Not makeup related, but it made me giggle!

Ok, I don't have a real post for today but I just wanted to share this video with you.  It's my daughter doing what she calls "hula walking".  It makes me giggle a lot because she like waddles.  So funny.  She's not saying anything important so if you can't hear it, you're not missing anything haha.  Hope this gets a smile out of you!

 

Springy purple eyes

Hey guys!  I had the hardest time deciding what kind of makeup I wanted to do today so I decided to do something kinda springy.  I realized that I had two beautiful matte purpley/blue colors from Inglot that I haven't really used yet so today I fixed that problem haha.  Here's what I did:

this picture shows the colors a little more true to how they look in real life.  In person, this definitely looked purple

And since I wanted it to be a springy look I really wanted to use a soft, frosty pink for the highlight color.  The problem with that is that I hate pink frosty eyeshadows so I don't own any haha.  The closest thing I have is a matte pink color with sparkles in it from my Kat Von D Tattoo Chronicles palette.  Here are the colors I used:

top to bottom: Inglot 379 matte, Inglot 388 matte, and Kat Von D "heartkiller"

388 is a very blue purple, it really can go either way and I think you can see a bit more purple when my flash is off so here are the swatches with no flash:

So that's the look I did today.  And I also got something in the mail today!  This is what Inglot sent me to apologize for my experience at their Times Square store:

What they sent: 4 samples of their face primer, a lipgloss, 2 pigments, a blush, a bag, and a note

The note says, 

"Dear Sonja,

Here's a closer look at what they sent:

I really like this color, surprisingly.  I wish I had MAC "Golden Olive" pigment to compare it to!  Because I would definitely describe this as a golden olive color

Inglot pigment 43 is sooooo a dupe for Ben Nye pigment in Chartreuse that I wiped everything off and had to swatch them side by side

they're not exact but they're definitely close enough for me to call them a dupe

And here's the lipgloss

I checked the website and these lipglosses are $10.  I would not pay $10 for this lipgloss.  Actually, I just would not buy this one at all.  I'm not in to glittery lipgloss anyway but you can see on my upper lip where the glitter kinda looks like dirt.  On the plus side is that it's not sticky at all, so I guess that's good.

On to the blush:

I do like this blush, I actually have it on in my look at the top of this post.  It warmed my face up nicely but I tend to like my blush a little more peachy or pink so I had to add a bit of pink on top.  But I did like this.

And the bag:

I didn't really take a lot of pictures of this because it's hard to get good pictures but I think this is a really cool bag.  It'll be perfect for once I get my freelancing started.  I don't know how well this will stand, I'm pretty sure I'll have to lay it on its' side when it's full but that's ok with me.  It's got a little zippered compartment which I'm guessing is for business cards.   

So that's what they sent me.  I really do appreciate them trying to make sure their customers are satisfied.  I still don't know if I would go back to the store though...

And that's all I have for today.  Haha I definitely needed a more tame look than I did yesterday.  I love bright colors but I can't go that bright every day or I start to feel like a character instead of myself, you know what I mean?  Thank you guys so much for checking this out!!  Any input is always more than welcome!  I want to make this enjoyable for you to read!!  

Rio inspired look!

Yet another look suggested by one of my followers.  This time it is a look inspired by the movie Rio, thank you Rachel for you suggestion!  I haven't see the movie yet but I've seen the commercial like a hundred million times (thank you Nickelodeon for getting "Take her take her to the flo.  Show her show her how you roll.  Drop it drop it drop it low" stuck in my head for like 2 weeks now, right Toshia???).  So I had to google some pictures and came across this one of Jewel (from what I could figure out, that's her name... if it's not please feel free to correct me).

I love her feather colors and the reason I picked her over "Blu" is because of the pink flower in her hair.  So here's what I came up with (I apologize for my hair, I don't like to blowdry it a few days before I dye it:

I didn't want you to be able to see the pink with my eyes open, I wanted it to be a surprise haha.  And I swear it's well blended in person.

So that's my crazy bright Rio inspired look.  The colors I used are:

~Inglot shadows:

371 (matte bright blue)

70 (similar to 371 but a little more green and it has sparkles in it)

428 (pearl navy blue)

496 (kind of a matte white with sparkles in it)

352 (matte skintone color to help blend)

~88 palette 

bright pink, purple, and light pink

~Bobbi Brown gel liner "black ink" but it looked too harsh so I put Inglot 428 on top to make it blue

On my lips:

I wanted them to be matte but still bright so I used MAC "Pink Friday" lipstick and then layered on some Inglot 352 eyeshadow to pale it out and matte it down a little.

Thank you again Rachel for the suggestion!  What better excuse to wear such bright colors than to say, "I was doing a look based on Rio"? Haha.  I'll take it!

Coral/blue summery look

My follower, Ashley, suggested that I do a coral or orange look because it's a such a great color for summer and I totally agree!  So I started off doing this with just the coral color on my lid and then I decided it needed something else so I added a bright blue/ turquoise color on my bottom lashes because coral and turquoise are seriously a match made in heaven.

The colors I used were:

~Inglot eyeshadows:

407 pearl orange on lid

363 matte brown just above crease

361 matte coral above brown 

352 matte skintone color to blend

393 pearl highlight on browbone, tearduct, and cheeks

371 matte bright blue under eye 

428 navy blue pearl on waterline

~NYX ultra pearl mania in "ocean blue" on top of 371 because I didn't like the way it looked with just a matte blue under my eye

~MAC fluidline"Rich Ground" which is a beautiful bronze color that I don't use very often because it's not a great defining color usually I use it as a base rather than a liner

On my lips:

MAC "myth" lipstick

MAC "Pink Friday" lipstick

NYX megashine lipgloss "Frosted Beige"

And because this has nothing to do with anything but I love it, I want to show you my awesome new windchimes:

are they perfect for my family or what?  There's this store here called "Garden Ridge" that's just full of home decorating stuff and I got these windchimes there for $14.99.

Chameleon Inspired Makeup

When you guys entered the giveaway, I asked you to leave me an inspiration or color for me to do a look based on and the winner, makeupbydanisaddiction, suggested doing a look based on a Chameleon.  So that's what I did today.  I went in to do my makeup without having looked at any pictures to get inspired.  My hubby's way into lizards so I have a good feeling for the colors that chameleons usually are (I was thinking a bright green with some blueish greens and yellows mixed in).  Just in case you don't know what a chameleon looks like (which is totally fine, I've been asked like a million times if my lizards are either a chameleon or an iguana), here's a picture:

I used like a bajillion different colors so as best as I can recall, I'll tell you what I used:

~TFSI and NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in "Horseraddish"

~NYX ultra pearl mania "Jade"

~NYX ultra pearl mania "Lime"

~NYX eyeshadow "Black"

~Inglot eyeshadows in 384 (matte green), 372 (matte robin's egg blue color), 414 (dark pearl green), 60 (AMC bright yellow), 403 (pearl golden yellow)

I really wish you could see the colors better because in real life you can tell how many different colors I have on but oh well!  If I were to do it again, I probably would have thrown in some orangey colors too but I liked the way it looked.  And what goes better with green eyes than pink lips?  So I used some random Ulta lipliner and then Viva Glam Gaga on top to lighten it up because it was a little too dark for me.

Weird blue/orangey look haha

I wanted to do something with blue and orange together.  Unfortunately it didn't pan out as I was hoping it would haha.  So this is the look I came up with.  I'm definitely not a fan of it but it's not bad enough for me to wash off right away.

Honestly, I used so many colors that I don't even know what I used haha.  Do you ever do that?  Just start dabbing in every eyeshadow you own?  Because I do that a lot.  

And I felt bad yesterday because I was busy and didn't get a chance to look at anyone else's blogs of anything.  I was painting my bathroom green.  We bought a new construction house almost a year ago and to save some money, we did "sweat equity" which was sooo much work!  We had to paint the whole inside of the house: walls, trim, doors, everything.  We had to putty all of the nail holes and caulk every crack in the house.  Then we had to do the landscaping.  But it saved us about $4000 so we really can't complain.  Anyways, back to the point.  When we painted, we rented a sprayer and just sprayed the walls and  the ceilings "Antique White" which is a great color... until you paint the walls another color.  Then the antique white ceilings don't work out so well.  So I had to not just paint the walls green, but also paint the ceiling white.  My arms, shoulders, and neck are sooo sore today haha.  But here's what my bathroom looks like!

can someone explain to me the necessity of a double vanity?  We had the option to get one but opted not to get it because if we had two sinks, where would I put my makeup kit???

So that's what I did yesterday!  Now I just need to buy new towels, a new shower curtain, a new toothpaste holder, a new valance for the window.... haha.
