Reptile Series: Green Tree Monitor

I've been totally lame and slacking in my reptile series lately but I finally have another look to add to it!  This look is inspired by the Green Tree Monitor.  They're beautifully colored and range from a blue green to lime green in color and they're just so vibrant that I knew they'd be perfect to pick for this series.

So here's what a Green Tree Monitor looks like:
Thank you Justin (aka Krusty) for letting me use this picture!

If you look closely at him starting at his nose, he fades from a pale yellow green into a blue green into a lime green into the blue green again then he fades into blue and then back to the blue green.  I just think he's gorgeous.  So here's the look I came up with inspired by this lizard.  It didn't come out as well as I was hoping it would but I figured I'd post it anyways!

This is a picture I took of a Green Tree Monitor at Alligator Adventures in Myrtle Beach, SC.

I really tried to get all of the different tones into my look.  It's not as easy as it may seem haha.  I used so many different greens I couldn't even tell you all of them.

But mainly I used my 88 palette, and also Ben Nye "Jade" pigment, Calypso Minerals "Drama" matte blue pigment, and BFTE "Cheap Thrills" (one of the sample sizes I got), which is the second color in from the corner of my eye and is also my highlight color.

I know I could have done this better but I think it's neat and you can definitely see where my inspiration came from!  I hope you guys like this!  I have a few other reptiles left for my series and maybe I won't get any new makeup that I'll have to try out as soon as I get it (impatient much???) so I can keep on track with this series and get it done haha.

As always, thank you so much for taking time to check this out!  You guys are the best!!!

Reptile Series: Malaysian Coral Snake Inspired

So today my look is based on this really beautiful, unique snake called a Malaysian Coral Snake.  We have coral snakes here in the United States but they don't look anything like this.  And while I think my look turned out ok, I think it definitely looks more like a fish than a snake haha.  Oh well.  So here's the snake:

I really wanted to do something with orange on the inner corner and outer corner of my eye since its head and tail are orange.  So here's what I did:

And I know you can't see the colors in this picture, but I like it in black and white haha
I really wish it read more snake than fish but what can ya do?  It's not my favorite look but it's not the worst look I've ever done either.  I think looks don't turn out as well when I take them so literally, I do better when I just take the colors and go with it.

What I used:
TFSI
NYX "milk" JEP
Sugarpill's "Flamepot" (orange)
NYX "Black" shadow
88 palette:
navy blue
periwinkle color
Ben Nye's "Cosmic Blue" pigment
MAC "Sea & Sky" mineralize duo (the sky side)
TIGI Bed Head "white" shadow
MAC Blacktrack fluidline
L'oreal Voluminous Carbon Black mascara

Whenever I do looks that are dramatic and a little different like this one, I feel like I should be going to a sporting event.  I would most definitely wear this to a New York Knick's basketball game (not that I'll be going to one any time soon haha).
Shoutout to my home state!  Holla!
I feel like you can wear really bold colors to sporting games and people won't think you're a lunatic like when you wear a look like this to the grocery store.  Oh well.

On a side note, the second place winner from my giveaway never got back to me and it's been 48 hours so I'm moving on to the next person, which is KristaDior.  I will be sending you an e-mail and you have 48 hours to respond or I will move on to the next person and so on.

Also, if you haven't voted on Makeupbee's contest yet, please do.  It only takes a minute, you can link your facebook page to Makeupbee and click the little "like" button and the prize is HUGE!  So please vote for my looks on there!

Of course I want to win but I think it's a longshot (technically, I'm in 4th place since a person can't win more than once, but I'm like 230 votes from 1st).  However, Ronnie and Meredith Jessica are right there so their looks really need your votes too so hopefully they can place 1st and 2nd.  So PLEASE vote for them!

If I'm gonna lose, please let me lose to looks I really like!!!  Thank you guys so much!!!

Reptile Series: Eastern Indigo Snake

When I came up with this idea for the reptile series, I really wanted to do a look inspired by this black snake I'd seen.  I just couldn't remember what it was called.  So I googled it and it was most definitely an Eastern Indigo Snake that I was thinking of.  I think they're really beautiful.  They're super dark and super shiny, I just think they're really cool.

So here's the snake:
This poor guy has to shed, that's why his eyes look like that

And the look I did inspired by these guys:

Haha obviously I was playing around with the editing on this one

I really wanted it to be shiny and intense.  I also was doing my shape to be kinda sinister feeling since snakes are often considered "evil".  I also had a really hard time getting a good picture of this look, I'm not sure why exactly but I wasn't diggin the way they were coming out.  Oh well!

What I used:
TFSI
L'oreal HIP Color Chrome Eyeliner in "Black Shock"
NYX Ultra pearl mania "Black pearl" (foiled)
Inglot 351 M
Warm, medium tan from my 88 palette
Inglot 393 P (highlight)
L'oreal Voluminous Carbon Black mascara
NYX Megashine Lipgloss in "Baby Rose" (it's basically clear with some glitter in it)

And I have a surprise!  I tried to do a tutorial!
It's the first one I've done that I actually think came out ok.  I still have no clue what I'm doing editing-wise but I gave it a shot.  You'll have to let me know what you think!  Just know that I'm super nervous (which you'll be able to tell if you watch the first 10 seconds haha).

Any tips, pointers, or suggestions for videos are more than welcome!  And is there any way to make them upload to YouTube faster?  Man, it took like an hour.  And it's a 6 minute video!  Oh well!  I hope you like it!  I know the eyes look a little uneven so I went back and tried to fix it after I did the video.

Oh yeah, and don't forget to enter my GIVEAWAY if you haven't yet!
Thanks guys!!

I'm doing a series! Reptile Inspired Makeup: Caiman Lizard

I decided today that I'm going to do a series.  I've seen a ton of bloggers do a series of makeup where they're inspired by a certain group of something and do makeup looks based on that.  So I decided I wanted to do a reptile series.  My husband is really in to lizards.  We have a ton of lizards (and two baby tortoises) in our house and he's always showing me pictures and stuff.  And so often, I say, "no, I don't want that but it is really pretty."

The first lizard I chose is a Caiman Lizard.  They're really neat, they have this green body and an orange head and these cute black eyes.  I just think they're really pretty.  But they require water in their housing so I don't want to own any haha.  So here's what Caiman lizards looks like:
Aren't they pretty?

So here's the look I did inspired by these guys:

I think, if you know what a Caiman lizard looks like, you can tell where I was going with it!
What I used:
Eyes:
TFSI
NYX JEP "milk"
Inglot pigment 43
Calypso Minerals matte pigment "Envy"
Calypso Minerals matte pigment "Torrid"
Inglot 407 P
Sugarpill "Flamepoint" (orange)
MAC "Vanilla" pigment (highlight)
NYX "Black" shadow
MAC Blacktrack fluidline
L'oreal Voluminous Carbon Black mascara

Face:
Revlon Colorstay combination/oily skin "Buff" and "Sand Beige" mixed
Maybelline dark circles eraser "fair"
Maybelline Super Stay concealer (2nd to lightest shade)
Covergirl professional loose powder "translucent fair"
ELF studio blush/bronzer duo
NYX "peach" blush
MAC "Vanilla" pigment as cheek highlight

I hope you like this!  I was afraid it would come across as "carrot" to people haha.  What do you think of this series?  Do you have any reptiles (it doesn't have to be just lizards) that you think are really pretty??

As always, thank you so much for checking this out!!  I appreciate you so much!
