Oh boy! Bright colors!!

I was feeling like wearing some bright colors after a long absence from using them.  So I grabbed my Inglot palette and was thinking about what to do and I remembered that I had wanted to give the Caribbean thing another try.  So that's kinda what I was going for with this look, but really it was an excuse to wear brights.  Just to forewarn you, I'm feeling a little silly today haha.  Maybe it's the nap I took this afternoon with my daughter...

I did this with all Inglot colors at first.  I used: 371 (bright matte blue), 372 (matte robin's egg blue), 384 (matte grass green color), a little bit of AMC 60 (yellow), 361 (matte coral), and 393 (pearl highlight color).  But then I stepped back and realized it wasn't fun enough, it needed some shimmer.  So I added some of NYX ultra pearl mania in "Ocean Blue" (on top of the blue), "Turquoise" (on top of 372), and "Orange Zest" on top of 361.  I liked it much better then.  And on my lips, I used Covergirl Lip Perfection lipstick in "Fairytale" on top of a layer of concealer (I'm hoping maybe that way my lips won't stay that color haha) with NYX megashine lipgloss in "Pink Frost" on top.

haha I told you I was feeling silly
And then my doggie lover was in the bathroom with me while I did my makeup so I used it as an opportunity for a photo shoot haha.  So here we are!

This is what I call our "sexy look" haha.  I said, "Sulley, look sexy" and this is what he did.  I am not sexy so that explains what's going on with me haha...
And then he thought he'd eat my earring which really tickles
And then he rolled over and started chonking on my fingers so I gave him a kiss
And lastly, a normal picture haha.  Finally, right?
Haha I love my puppy.  He's so nuts but I love him anyways.  I'm sorry if you get sick of doggie pictures but he's just so stinkin cute I can't help myself.  My kiddo has strep throat (poor thing had a 104.1 fever this morning) so she wasn't feeling so well otherwise I'm sure she would have been in some of these.  I hate it when she's sick because there's nothing I can do to make it better besides give her medicine and popsicles (which always help).

Well, I hope you all have a great day tomorrow!  Stay healthy and strep throat free!  Thanks so much for looking at this!  You all are the best!

New York weekend and new hair!

I was so excited to be able to go up to New York this weekend and see my family and friends!  We had a good time even though the drive feels soooo long!

My daughter misses my parents like crazy.  We were going to go straight to their house but my sister's house is on the way so we decided to stop there so I could see my adorable niece and we could get out of the car for a minute.  My daughter wanted no part of it.  She was like, "no, I want to see Grandma and Poppy.  I'm not going in."  So finally she did go in but she wasn't happy about it.  And then once we got to my parents house, she wouldn't leave.  We go around and visit people but my daughter won't leave their house.  It's kind of cute but at the same time, nobody else gets to see her unless they go to my parent's house.  Oh well.

My puppy was very well behaved in the car (he's like a totally different dog in the car, it's weird).  He just sits there, whereas in my house, he bounces off the walls.  Literally.  He's actually cracked one of our walls from crashing into it haha.  So here are a few pictures of the ride.

And some of the cutest baby ever!

And the main reason we went up there was for my husband's friend's wedding.  It was a very different wedding than one I'd ever been to before haha.  It was quite small, they had set up 40 chairs but there were probably only 20 people there.  And it was pretty informal.  I didn't know where to sit (usually you sit either on the bride's side or the groom's side but here, that rule didn't apply).

I'm a pretty shy person and it takes a lot of courage for me just to go and talk to random people.  But I was just sitting there by myself and there were 2 girls around my age a couple of rows back from me so I decided I'd try to talk to them.  Bad choice.  They were so snotty.  I asked them if they knew the bride and they said yeah and I was saying it would have been nice if the wedding was in North Carolina (where the groom lives) because it was stinkin cold in NY.  And they were like, "she's from here."  Like I was stupid or something.  I was just saying because of the weather.  Whatever.

Well, a little while later my hubby and his buddy (another groomsman) came and sat with me.  They started telling me a funny story and the 2 snotty girls were totally listening and laughing at it.  I bet they would have been nicer to me if they knew I had an in with the groomsmen haha.  In your face snotty girls.

her dress was really beautiful but she had to keep hiking it up haha.  She was totally not shy like me at all, she kept grabbing her dress by the boobs and pushing it up.

my hubby's on the left

The ceremony was decent.  And the reception was supposed to be at a bar a little ways away.  We got there along with some other guests and the bartender said, "I have no idea what you're talking about.  There's nothing booked here."  Haha so they hadn't actually ever booked it there I guess.  The kitchen was closing in 20 minutes so all we were allowed to get was appetizers and drinks.  And I bet you guys will never guess what I forgot to do.  Take pictures of me and my hubby.  Nope.  Not a one.  Haha.  But we had a nice time, I definitely liked that I was able to spend a lot of time with my hubby and his friend's as opposed to by myself.  And the bride was so nice to me.  She was totally drunk, but she was very nice to me.

And I got to get my hair cut and my friend who does it also added a bunch of lowlights to help it blend better when it grows in.  I think the color is taking more getting used to than the haircut.  So here's what I look like now!

I like it.  I'm also not one of the girls who freak out about their hair.  As long as I look like a girl, I'm good haha.  I hope you guys all had as much fun as I did this weekend!  Thanks so much for reading this (haha, if you read it all, you're a champ!)!

Kreativ and Stylish Blogger Awards

Charlotte Sparkle (In the Pink Fog) awarded me with the Kreativ Blogger award and I'm so grateful!  Thank you so much!  I really appreciate it!

And also Sumitha (Be Beauty-licious) awarded me the Stylish blogger award so thank you as well!

The rules for this award are:

Write 10 facts about yourself and pass the award to 10 bloggers and tell them about the award.

I'm not sure if all awards have you give facts about yourself but you all are going to know everything about me haha.
1.  I am shy.  I do not like to walk up to random people and talk to them, it makes me anxious haha.
2.  I'm also very quiet.  I am the "listener" in almost all of my relationships.
3.  I get distracted really easily.  I go somewhere to do something and along the way find something else I need to do and never actually do what I set out to do to begin with.
4.  I used to play basketball and softball but then I tore my ACL and meniscus so that ended that.
5.  I just got into watching i-Carly on Nickelodeon with my daughter and actually think it's really funny.
6.  I have never done any type of drugs and I never intend on it.
7.  I had my daughter when I was pretty young, I was 20.  I've learned a lot from her.
8.  I'm kind of a teeny bopper.  I still listen to old school Britney Spears, N*Sync, Christina Aguilera, etc haha.
9.  I am a Christian.  A lot of people will hear that and think that I'm going to hit you over the head with a Bible.  I would never do that.  I whole-heartedly believe that those "Christians" who say that "God hates Gays" (for example) are not Christians.  I believe in loving people, not condemning them.
10.  I am eternally optimistic haha.  I'm definitely one of the people who sees the glass as half full.

Now for people to award.... I know this got tricky last time because a lot of the people I follow also follow me and we all follow one another so a lot of us ran out of people to award.  So here I go (I'm sorry if you've already been awarded and if I awarded you with the Versatile Blogger award too and if you don't want to accept this or do it I definitely understand) and I only have 8.

Adele Inspired

I was recently flipping through the newest People Magazine issue and I saw a picture where the makeup really caught my eye.  Then I looked to see who it was because I didn't know and it was Adele.  Now, I don't know anything about Adele except that she's a singer (and from what I've heard, a really good one).  And then I remembered that one of my followers (Thorn246) had suggested that I do a look inspired by her.  So I thought this was the perfect opportunity!

I googled to see if I could find this picture online and I can't so I took a picture of it.  The only problem with that is that you can't really see the colors.  But here it is
She looks very 60's to me and I was up to the challenge.
I have to be honest here.  I have a really hard time recreating looks.  Whenever I do it, it'll look right in person but as soon as I take a picture, it'll look way too soft.  So here's what I came up with.

I'm so proud because my false lashes actually look good!

To me, her crease color looks to be a darkened warm purple.  So I did what I could to try to make that color using brown, purple, and black (even though it's still not as intense or sharp as hers).  And whoever did her eyeliner is awesome because it's so not as easy as it looks like it would be.

I thought it was a pretty cool look but it really doesn't look very good on me when I have my eyes open.  Oh well.  I like it anyways.  It's not perfect but it was worth a shot.  And I'm glad I tried it!  Thank you Thorn246 for the suggestion!

Happy Mother's Day to all of you amazing mommies out there!  I hope you have the best, most relaxing day!

Mandarin Fish Inspired

One of the suggestions I received from my followers (Sumitha) was to do a look inspired by a Mandarin Fish.  I had never heard of a mandarin fish before and when I saw it, I was excited because these are some really cool fish.  I didn't really know where to go with the look, though so I went a little crazy.  I did a look inspired by the fish and then a more literal translation of it.

So here is the fish
Really cool, huh?  The face actually reminds me a lot of a tortoise. And here is my more wearable look
And here's the more literal version

I'm not super thrilled with the way it came out because my green spots kinda look like worms and it just didn't work out the way I had it in my head.  And I was so annoyed that I don't have a great royal blue color like the one on the tips of the fish's fins.  So I attempted to use a NYX ultra pearl mania (Space) but as you can see, it didn't pan out so well.  Just so you know, I will be posting my successes as well as my failures on here haha so don't think that all of my stuff is going to be good because it's totally not (as you can see) haha.

I really think this is an inspiration better suited for UrbanelyDecayed, she could do something so amazing with this fish as her inspiration.  So, if you're reading this, please do something and make this fish proud haha!

Thank you, Sumitha, for the suggestion and I'm sorry I didn't do as well on it as I know I can.  Maybe I'll try it again another day!

And I put off doing my makeup today for as long as I could because we're leaving tonight to go to New York.  We'll probably leave here around 11 or 12 and get there tomorrow around noon so this makeup has to last me!  I really dislike sitting in the car for that long.  I went to Walgreens and there was an older cashier there and she made a big deal out of my makeup.  She told me how beautiful my eyes looked and asked who taught me how to do it.  It was kinda nice for an older lady to appreciate my makeup because that doesn't usually happen (it's usually younger women).  Because guess what guys... my makeup is sooo neutral again!
I used Inglot: 363, 361, 395, and Urban Decay Twice Baked for this look.

Haha sorry it totally reads in my face that I'm stressing out.  I'm not so much a fan of packing and all the stress of making sure I have everything for everyone or thinking about 12 hours in the car with a 5 year old and a puppy.... yeah.  Haha.

So I'm sorry I won't be on here very much in the next few days.  I'll try to hop back on when I have a chance but I'm not sure when that'll be!  So I hope you all have a great weekend!

What kind of makeup to wear with this dress?

So my hubby, daughter, dog, and I are going up to New York this weekend for my husband's friend's wedding. My husband is actually in the wedding so he'll be wearing a tux (even though it's going to be a small informal wedding).  So I bought this dress from Target to wear:
Now, my problem is what kind of makeup should I wear with it?  It's an olive/army green.  The wedding is on Sunday night (at 7:30) and the reception is at a small bar.  However, we're not just celebrating the wedding that night.  My parents are going to take our daughter overnight so we can celebrate (even though it's a little late) our anniversary.

So this was a trial run for what I was thinking I might do.  See, what I want is for my husband to see me and be like, "Yup.  That's my wife."  Ya know?
haha, yup, my hair is a little bit purple.  I just bleached it and toned it.

What do you think of this?  Too much?  Not enough?

Also, I'm getting my hair cut because my friend who lives in NY cuts my hair every time I go up there and I was thinking I want to get bangs.  Maybe something like these:

What do you think?  Any input is greatly appreciated!  Thanks guys so much!

Neutral eyes with "Fairytale" lips

Yes, I know, AGAIN with the neutral eyes?!?  Well at least today I feel like I have an excuse.  I bought CoverGirl "Fairytale" Lip Perfection Lipstick and I wanted to wear it.  So I did my face makeup, put the lipstick on and tried to figure out what I thought would look best with this color.

So let's start off saying a couple of things about this lipstick.  It's very inexpensive.  I got it on sale with a $2 coupon for about $4.  The color is very very beautiful.  It's like a bright pink/reddish/with a hint of coral color haha (sorry that's a terrible explanation of the color).  This lipstick does not play around.  When I bought it, of course I had to put it on right away even though it totally didn't go with the eye makeup I was wearing.  This color did not come off for the rest of the night.  And guess what?  I woke up with "Fairytale" colored lips.

I knew people had said how long lasting it was but I didn't see how it could be, every long lasting lip color I've ever used had been one of those liquidy colors that's sooo dry it looks ridiculous because it shows every single line and crease in your lips.  This looks like a normal lipstick, it feels like a normal lipstick (it doesn't feel as heavy on my lips as my MAC lipsticks so or as slippery as the NYX lipsticks, it really almost feels like I don't have anything on my lips). But this thing lasts and lasts and lasts, granted, it does fade a little but I think that's to be expected.  So here's what it looks like

And now here's the look I did to go with it today
If someone can understand why I can wear this color and feel comfortable but I can't wear red, please let me know because I don't get it.
The colors I used:
Inglot: 351 (very light matte color on lid and highlight)
393 (light pearl color in tearducts and a little on the lid)
407 (orangey gold pearl color above the bronze)
And I also used "Taxidermy" from the Kat Von D Tattoo Chronicles palette (a gorgeous warm bronze color).

I  like this look, I'd wear it out and not feel like everyone is staring and pointing at me like I would if I had red lips haha.  And I think the lipstick is great.  If you want a bright color that you want to stay on your lips, I definitely recommend this!  I know there are other colors and most have shimmer (which is something I REALLY don't like in lipsticks) but if one of them calls to you, don't be afraid to give them a try (and if you hate it, just keep your receipt and you can probably return it!)!  Here are some swatches (she has more on other pages of her blog) from Amalia at Dear Makeup Diary if you want to check them out http://amaliasdior.blogspot.com/2011/04/covergirl-lip-perfection-lipstick.html

Also, you know how my friend came down to visit me this weekend?  Well, she let me do her makeup and I even remembered to take a before picture (which I usually forget)!  Well, a before picture really is no good when you forget to take an after picture haha.  Whoops.  I did a dark purple smokey eye on her (she has beautiful hazel/gold eyes) and she asked for something dark and "porn star-ish".  Now, if only I'd remembered to take a picture haha.  I hope you all have a great week and thanks for checking this out!!!
