Inspired by the Dragon from "Enchanted"

I know I can't be the only one who gets sucked into Disney movies even when there are no children around.  This happened to me the other day.  The movie "Enchanted" was on and I just got sucked in and watched it even though my daughter was at school haha.  But I was excited in the scene where the evil queen becomes a dragon because of the gorgeous colors they chose to make the dragon!  I was inspired!

Here's a picture of the dragon!

My look came out a bit more green (I was going from memory and remembered it a bit more green... whoops!) but it was fun to do!  So here's the look:

Color Placement:
All Makeup Geek Eyeshadows:
1- Shimmermint
2- Mermaid
3- Peacock
4- Envy
5- Duchess
6- Unicorn
7- Wisteria
8- Bling

It felt good to be inspired and do a look with lots of colors!

Also I have good news!  Meredith Jessica from Pigments and Palettes is awesome a decided to feature me as her blogger of the month for April.  She does a really fun (but tough!) interview so CLICK HERE if you want to check that out!

And a quick personal update, I go in for my 4th round of chemo on Monday.  I'm not looking forward to it, especially since I'm feeling good right now and I know it'll make me feel like poo.  I mean, I know I have to do it but I really dread going.  I was debating on doing a "Come to Chemo" with me post but I'm not sure if you guys would be interested in seeing that or if I'd be allowed to take pictures in the office where they do the chemo.  Let me know what you think about that idea.

But other than that I feel almost back to normal, my tummy is still sore from surgery but I can deal as long as I don't feel like I'm gonna puke haha.  My skin is getting better so I've been feeling a little better and actually wanting to do makeup, which makes me happy.

So that's what I have for today!  I hope you all are doing well!!  Thanks for checking this out!!

Aqua and Purple Cut Crease using Pretty Addictions Mineral Cosmetics!

I haven't been on here in forever, I know and I'm sorry.  The chemo I've been going through has decided to make my face break out so badly, worse than when I was a teenager even, and I've just been in a slump.

Through this blog I have been able to get to know some amazing people.  I'm so grateful for people who e-mail me, even if I don't respond.  I'm sorry if I don't respond but especially on my chemo weeks, sometimes I'll glance at my e-mail on my phone but I just don't respond.  Please still know that your e-mails and comments mean so much to me.

One such girl is a blogger, whom I follow (though I've really been slacking on following blogs too), Amber, from Lipgloss and Flipflops was so so sweet and contacted me and asked if it would be ok if she sent me something to lift my spirits a bit as she lost someone close to her from cancer.  So she sent me this super sweet card and said that she was sending me some stuff from her favorite indie brand, Pretty Addictions, which is a mineral makeup line.

So here's the look I did using some products from what Amber sent me!

What I used:
TFSI
NYX JEP "Milk"
P.A. "Honesty" (Aqua)
P.A. "Passionate" (Purple)
Makeup Geek "Corrupt" (black)
Makeup Geek "White Lies" (white highlight)
MAC Blacktrack fluidline
L'oreal Voluminous Carbon Black mascara

And here's how the colors (from what was called the "Birthday Collection" which was limited edition and isn't available any more, and also a blush and a cheek highlight) came packaged and swatches of all of the shadows that came in the cute little bucket!

Cute little bucket, right?

Thank you, Amber, for sending me these eyeshadows, I can't wait to play with them some more and really get to use them.  And thank you all again for hanging in there with me while I have such huge gaps in between my postings.  I hope you like this look!  Thank you guys so much for all of your encouraging words!!

A Lime Green and Bright Blue look

I don't know what it is about lime green and bright blue together but I just love them.  Makeup Geek's weekly challenge this week is to do a spring inspired look so this is the look I did for that.  They made a new rule when you enter pictures that the pictures can't be edited, which I think is good because I really think it makes it a more fair challenge (these pictures are slightly edited though, I just enhanced the contrast and edited my skin just a little in all but the first one which came out like that on my camera).

1- NYX Ultra Pearl Mania "Lime
2- MUG shadow "Corrupt"
3- MUG shadow "Poolside"
4- MUG shadow "Gold Digger"
5- MUG shadow "White Lies"
6- MUG shadow "Shimma Shimma

Face:
Revlon Colorstay "Sand Beige" mixed with
Sally Hansen inspired by Carmindy "Porcelain" liquid foundation
Maybelline Dark Circle Eraser "Fair"
Maybelline 24/7 Super Stay concealer (2nd to lightest shade)
Covergirl professional loose powder "Translucent Fair"
ELF blush/bronzer duo
Anastasia Highlighting Creme duo in "Aspen"

Eyes:
Colors listed above
Lime Crime Eyeshadow Helper
MAC Blacktrack fluidline
L'oreal Voluminous Carbon Black mascara

Lips:
MAC "Pink Friday" lipstick
MAC "Viva Glam Nicki" lipstick
MAC "Boy Bait" Cremesheen glass

Here's a bonus picture of me and my handsome Sullivan!
Isn't he so handsome? Haha can you see the makeup on the back of my hand?  Whoops!

I really liked this look!  It was fun and colorful, especially with the pink lips!

So I got through my second round of chemo.  I found out that blurry vision is a very uncommon side effect of the nausea medicine, it happens in less than 1% of people so they're going to switch my medicine to a different, longer lasting medicine.  My nurse said worst case scenario is that my vision is blurry for longer but hopefully it won't be at all.  I haven't had much of an appetite, on my chemo weeks I primarily eat saltine crackers and randomly some bread.  Luckily I have a week on and then a week off so I can eat on my non chemo weeks.

Also, if you are ever diagnosed with a disease I highly recommend that you DO NOT google the survival rate.  I did and it bummed me out.  I realize that the average age of someone diagnosed with colon cancer is 72 so I really think that's why the survival rate is so low (it's based on a 5 year survival rate).  I watched the movie 50/50 and he had searched his survival rate and so I thought I would too haha.  Mine is not nearly that high.  It just makes me realize that I really need to be, and will be, part of the small percentage who makes it.

I meet with my surgeon tomorrow just for another checkup.  I have all these questions about the surgery I'll need on my liver, which I'm super scared of.  They said it's a more intensive surgery than the one I already went through, which I thought was pretty tough (though not as painful as ACL surgery, I never woke up crying from pain after my "left hemicolectomy" like I did with my ACL/meniscus surgery).  I guess it's a tough surgery because of all of the blood vessels and everything in the liver.  I just hope I'm not in the hospital quite  as long after that as I was with the last one, I was really missing my daughter after the 3rd day even though she did come to visit me.

Sorry to keep talking, I've just been thinking all of these things and it's kind of nice to get the thoughts out.  So thanks for listening to me ramble haha!  And thanks so much for hanging in there with me!  Your support means so much to me!  Thanks so much guys!!

A look with glitter using mainly Glamour Doll Eyes!

This is going to be a really short post haha.  I was feeling pretty good the other day and decided to do something a little more fun with my makeup than I've been doing (I've been sooo boring!!)! I've had this silver disco-y glitter from Glamour Doll Eyes called Hollywood for a while but haven't used it and I really wanted to give it a try.  Here's what I did with it!

What I used:
Milani Liquid-Like metallic eyeliner "Silver" as a base for the glitter
GDE "Hollywood" glitter
GDE "Mingles" (blue)
GDE "Radioactive" (dark green)
Artistry eyeshadow "Eden" (light yellow green)
Inglot 351 M as highlight color

I was glad to finally do something a little more like myself.  I really liked these colors together, I wish they showed up better in the pictures.  I don't know what my issue is but things aren't photographing very nicely for me lately.  Oh well, I'll get it figured out!!

This is so short but that's all I have for today!  I have chemo again tomorrow so I'm not sure when to expect that I'll have another post up.  But thank you all again for all of your sweet comments.  I read every single one and they so much to me!  Thank you all!

A Razzleberry look!

Hey guys!  I know it's been a while since I last posted and I'm really sorry!  It's been a little crazy here.

I had my first round of chemo last Monday, which while it wasn't as bad as I thought it may be, it wasn't fun.  I was ok on Monday and Tuesday (a little nauseous but whatev), but on Wednesday the medicine kicked in and I wasn't feeling well at all.  And a terrible side effect of the anti nausea medicine that I didn't know about is that it can make your vision fuzzy!  I woke up on Thursday morning and couldn't see things that I normally could!  I swear I had the worst makeup application that day, I couldn't see what I was doing!  But I made it through and have another round this upcoming Monday but at least now I at least kind of know what to expect, I'm not sure if the side effects will change with time or get worse or better but I guess we'll see.

Anyways, I have a look for you today.  I've been getting more and more Makeup Geek eyeshadows and when I was picking out the ones I wanted I knew I wanted one called "Razzleberry" just because it looks fun. Well I got it and it's just been sitting there.  So I finally used it.  When you use this color, you will COMPLETELY understand why it's called Razzleberry haha.  So here's the look I did (sorry I don't have better pictures, I've not been very photogenic lately...).

What I used:
Too Faced Shadow Insurance
NYX JEP "Milk"
Makeup Geek shadow "Duchess" (purple) on lid and up above crease and under eye
Makeup Geek shadow "Razzleberry" (pink) blended into Duchess and up from there
Makeup Geek "Vanilla Bean" as highlight
MAC Blacktrack fluidline
L'oreal Voluminous Carbon Black mascara

I was too lazy to put anything on my lips so that's just my lip color

Razzleberry is definitely a fun color.  There's a bit of glitter in it but that brushed off when I blended it.  It's definitely one of the more pigmented colors I've gotten from MUG (don't get Fuji, it's a letdown).

So I'm sorry I don't have more looks or better, more interesting looks for you right now.  I've definitely been trying to get better, I just haven't had as much patience as I usually do when I do my makeup.

Also, I don't know if you noticed the link for Relay for Life in the top left hand corner of my blog but I have a friend who will be walking in an event to support the American Cancer Society and she's walking in honor of me and also her uncle.  If you click on the link you can see what the money goes to, it's really a great program.  My Cancer Center offers so many excellent programs and classes for cancer patients and their family members and I know that the Relay for Life helps support those programs.  If you feel it in your heart to donate to that, we'd all be so grateful.  If not, I totally understand.

I hope you guys are having a great week!  I'll definitely be posting another look before Monday!  Thank you always for your thoughts and prayers.  They mean so much to me!  Even if I don't personally respond (I've barely gotten on the computer this past week and a half), just know that I've seen what you've said and I appreciate it so much!  Thank you guys for hanging in there with me!

Feeling a bit more like myself with a smokey eye!

Finally!  I have a new post!  I'm sorry it's been so long, I wasn't expecting to not feel like sitting at the computer after surgery so that's kinda thrown me off a bit.  So first thing first.  I cut my hair.  It's not as short as I was intending on going because when I went to the salon to cut it, the owner came over to me and told me that he's a client for years and years who also has colon cancer and the drugs haven't made her lose her hair at all.  So he suggested that I just trim it.  I decided that I still wanted to donate what I could because I didn't want to be kicking myself in the butt if I didn't do it and then my hair started falling out.

So here is a picture of my sister and I (taken on her phone) the day before I got my hair cut.

And here's a picture from right after I got home from the salon (taken on my phone).

Goodbye long hair!  I donated 10 inches.  Which is a lot.  I like my new hair (not saying I don't miss the long hair).  I mean, I've had it this length before so it wasn't as crazy of a shock as if I had done the pixie cut.  I still plan to buzz my hair if it does start to fall out.

Now onto the makeup look!

This is yet another look I did with Makeup Geek eyeshadows.  I really think they've been great so far.  You definitely need a Z palette or something to put them in.  You may think it won't be so bad opening up those little packages every time you want to use one but that gets old very quickly haha.  So here's my look!

And a quick cute one of my daughter and me (taken on her DS).

Color placement:

1- Corrupt
2- Cocoa Bear
3- Chickadee
4- Vanilla Bean
5- Shimma Shimma (I also used this for a cheek highlight)

I'm so sorry that I've not been posting a lot and even more so that I haven't responded to comments.  I do read them all I just don't know how to log on through my phone and I have basically not been on the computer hardly at all.  Hence the lack of posts.  So thank you all so much for your sweet comments, I really do appreciate them all so much!

I start chemo tomorrow morning at 8:30.  I'm quite nervous because I just don't really know what to expect.  I know one of the medications they're putting me on will make me highly sensitive to cold.  I won't be able to eat, drink, touch, or be in the cold at all.  They said I'll need to keep a pair of gloves next to the fridge because if I touch something cold, it will feel like I've gotten an electric shock.  And if I eat or drink something cold they said it will feel like I'm swallowing shards of glass, which doesn't sound like that much fun.  I'm nervous about being nauseous and possibly getting sick to my stomach.  I HATE getting sick to my stomach.  So I've already got my anti-nausea medicine, some ginger to make ginger tea, and some ginger hard candies to suck on (apparently I've heard ginger is good for nausea haha).

If anybody ever has a question regarding the cancer itself or chemo or anything please don't hesitate to ask or if you are going through something, please feel free to contact me (you can e-mail me at starryskies214@yahoo.com).  I don't want to overload you guys with stuff you don't care about so I'll try to keep my chemo stuff to a minimum, I'm not saying I won't mention it at all because it will be part of my life for the next few months.

So that's all for today!  Thank you all for hanging on!  I really will try to be better about posting now that I'm not quite as sore.  Thank you all so so so much!!  I hope you have an incredible week!!

Blue and brown look using MUG shadows and a quick update!

I received some Makeup Geek eyeshadows recently and I was so excited to try them.  Unfortunately, I got them the day before my surgery so I had to wait forever to try them!  I've done a few looks with them but our weather hasn't been very good so I've only photographed one of the looks I've done.  I have to say that so far they're pretty good (I'll do swatches and a review later on).  So here's the look I did!

MUG shadows I used:
1- Mermaid
2- Burlesque
3-Cocoa Bear
4- Vanilla Bean
5- Shimma Shimma

I know I do this type of look a lot, with a blue color on my lid and brown above the crease but I think it's very wearable that way and I just really like it haha.

And just a quick update on what's going on with me, I'm healing well from my surgery, I'm still sore but I'm pretty sure that's normal.  I'm gonna have one heck of a scar up the middle of my tummy (it's about 8 inches long haha) but scars don't really bother me, I say it's my street cred haha.

I met with the oncologist the other day and the plan is for me to start chemo on the 12th, which was sooner than I thought it was going to be, but it is what it is.  So sometime before then I plan on cutting my hair.  Maybe something like this:
 but I'm open to suggestions!!

Thank you all so so so much for all of your kind words and thoughts on my last post.  I read a lot of them while I was in the hospital and they really made me feel better.  I'm so lucky to have such a great group of followers!  Thank you guys so much!!
