Super quick look for fall!

Today I felt like doing something easy for fall, with some dark (well, darker than normal for me) lips and a bronzy fall eye.  This is like the easiest look ever but I like it.  The lips look darker in person, I swear.  The lip color is one of the Revlon Balm Stains in the color "Honey" which is like a natural plum color, it's not nearly as light as it looks on the package so if you like light lips like I do, you may not like this color.  But anyways, here's the look I did!

My lighting was super off because the lips look way darker in person!

What I used on the eyes:
Lime Crime Eyeshadow Helper
Makeup Geek eyeshadow "Pretentious" all over lid, slightly above the crease, and under the eye
MUG "Mocha" shadow in crease
MUG "Bleached Blonde" to blend "Pretentious"
MUG "Bling" as a highlight
Avon Glimmersticks Liqui-glide Eyeliner in "Black"
MUG "Corrupt" shadow to set liner

I just thought the color "Pretentious" looked like such a fall color, it's a cool toned bronze color, and I thought mixed with the natural plum lip, it would be perfect for an easy fall look.  Do you have a favorite fall color combo??

And I just got this Avon Glimmersticks Liqui-glide eyeliner and I really like it so far.  It really does feel wet when it goes on, but it glides on like one of the Urban Decay 24/7 pencils.  And it does not transfer.  I have the biggest issue, because of my eye shape, with eyeliners transferring onto my lid and it drives me bonkers.  That hasn't happened yet with this liner.  I'll do a full review on it once I give it a bit longer of a trial but so far so good!

That's all I have for today, just a really quick post, but as always, thank you so much for your support!

Revlon Just Bitten "Lovesick" Balm Stain Review and Look!

I'm sure by now you've heard about these Revlon Just Bitten Balm Stains but I decided since I bought one, I'd share my opinion about it with you!  I bought mine at CVS one week, they retail there for $9.79.  My CVS was out of most colors so I went with a fushia color called "Lovesick."  It's a pretty color, a bit bolder than colors I usually go for but I figured it was worth a shot.

So here's what it looks like, it looks like a chubby, big crayon:

Here you can see it has tiny glitter flecks in it:

When I put it on, the color reminded me of the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in "Addis Ababa."  They do look a lot alike but the Revlon one is much more sheer, which would be expected from something called a "Balm Stain."

And here's a look I did wearing it.  I'm not sure what it is about fushia that makes me want to wear a black smokey eye.

I used the Naked palette for this look:
"Creep" on lid and above crease
Blended with "Naked"
"Virgin" to highlight
That's all.  Just 3 colors.

I really like the color.  I think it's fun, but it is pretty bright.  I feel like you can't tell how bold it is in these pictures.  I really liked the way it applied, it was very smooth.  I like that it has a slight sheen to it.  I applied it and then tried to wipe it off, just to see how it worked, and it stayed on, which is great and something my husband also appreciated because he's not a fan of wearing fushia lipstick haha.  However, after a few hours and after I ate something, most of the boldness of the color had worn off from the middle of my lips, but it was still bright around the edges, as if I'd lined my lips with this instead of applying it all over, which is not so much a good look.  I did find that my lips were still tinted this morning when I woke up.

These are supposed to be comparable to the Tarte Lipsurgence, which I've never tried so I personally cannot compare the two.  The only thing I can honestly compare is the price.  $9.79 for a Revlon one or $24 for a Tarte one... for me, that makes up my mind immediately, but I'm one who's always looking for something similar but less expensive anways.  I do like this product, I really like the idea of it.  I'm interested to try a more nude one, just to see how the color would hold up.  I was disappointed that the color had faded (though it wasn't completely gone) in the center of my lips because it just looked sloppy.

I can't speak for the less intense colors but I'd recommend this color, just as long as reapplying to the center of your lips after a meal doesn't upset you.  If it does, then pass on this guy!

Have you guys tried these?  What do you think of them?  What color is your favorite?

Guest review of Sonia Kashuk's Highlighting Brush by Amalia from Dear Makeup Diary!

I like reading people's reviews of things and honestly, it's not too often when people have a nice, to the point review.  Some people have a tendency to go on and on... wait... that would be me... haha.  I knew when Amalia from Dear Makeup Diary said that she was going to stop blogging that I'd miss her reviews.  She always got to the point and told you straight up if she liked something or not and then why.  So I got the idea to ask her if she'd be willing to come on my blog every once in a while to do a guest review.  And she said yes!  So I hope you enjoy her reviews as much as I do!

"First of all, thank you Sonja for inviting me to do this review!  It's a real treat because I enjoy your blog so much!

Today I am reviewing the Sonia Kashuk Highlighting Makeup Brush.  There are two types of Sonia Kashuk brushes- the white handled ones, which are kind of like the "economy" line, and black handled ones, which are also sometimes called "Kashuk Tools" and are generally a bit more expensive and have a black ferrule rather than metal.  These brushes are available at Target.  This particular brush costs $12.99.

I love this brush!!  I think the most common comparison to it is the MAC 187.  I used to use the 187 for liquid foundation and mine is years old, but I have taken a couple pics to show how similar they are.  They really are.  They are the same height in both the handle and the bristles.  My MAC brush looks a little different (aka not new) because of age and how I used it.

This Sonia Kashuk brush is absolutely perfect for applying cheek highlighters.  I rarely use MSFs, but when I have, I used this brush and love it because it picks up a perfect amount of powder and distrubutes it evenly on my face.  I also like using this brush for Sleek brand blushes because they are soooo pigmented that my blush brushes are way too dense.

The only negative I've found about this brush is that the bristles seem a bit hard to retain their shape.  However, this has never shed on my face.  It is very easy to clean and does not build up product if washed properly.

I have a lot of Sonia Kahuk brushes from both lines, and I've had issues with a few of them that I would not recommend, but this is one I really enjoy.  I've had it for almost a year and it hasn't broken or shed.

Overall, I think this is an excellent brush that serves its purpose very well. "

Thank you so much Amalia for doing this review!!!

Natural-ish brown smokey eyes and Revlon Just Bitten lipstain

Ok, well for me, this is a natural look.  I think a good chunk of the reason for that would be the fact that I'm not wearing black eyeliner.  I really wasn't feeling the whole eyeliner thing the day I did this... or the next day... or the  next haha.  I didn't wear eyeliner for a few days this past week.  Oh well.

I was at CVS and was trying to get my extra bucks from Revlon so I had to get something relatively inexpensive.  There were very few things that were less than $10 that were something I'd wanted to try.  Then I saw the Just Bitten lipstains and the only color that looks like one I'd actually wear was the bright pink one which is the color "Passion."  So here's the look I did wearing that on my lips.

As you can see, my eyes are really neutral for me.  I have on the brown Urban Decay liner ("Bourbon") from the "Get Baked " palette, which I layered "Twice Baked" on top of.  And then I think I just blended that out with a random light brown from my 88 palette.  My highlight is MAC "Vanilla" pigment.

As for the lipstain, I really like it.  I'd seen reviews of people saying how easy the marker-like tip made application... I kind of disagree.  I personally like a bit more forgiving applicator, something that moves a little.  The tip is really stiff, which is great if you want it to be super precise but I feel like lipstains are supposed to be a natural flush looking color (maybe not a natural color exactly but applied in such a way that literally it looks like you bit your lip and that's what color it turned, ya know?).  I almost feel like I should dab it on with my finger but that's not a possibility so I just used the side of the marker instead of the tip.

Now, you definitely want your lips to be exfoliated.  When I first bought it, I got so excited that I just put it on without doing anything to my lips first.  Bad move.  It grabbed on to all of the dry skin on my lips and made it stand out like crazy.  So I tried again, this time I exfoliated, applied the balm attached to the lipstain, applied the lipstain, and applied the balm again.  Perfection.  It lasted a long time too, though I did have to reapply the lip blam (which is a really great balm) because my lips started to feel dry.

I think this would be a great product for a bride.  I don't know about anybody else, but on my wedding day, I was too busy to reapply anything on to lips.  So I definitely think this would be great for someone who wants a very low-maintenance lip color.  The colors are pretty much all dark so if you like your lips lighter than their natural color, you'll probably have to pass on this.  Personally, I think the one I bought is the only color I'd actually use because I like light lips.  But I'd definitely recommend grabbing a color if one stands out to you!  I think mine cost about $5.

I apologize for the non-exciting look but that's all I have for today!  Thanks again for checking this out!!

Maybelline Falsies Flared TV Commercial

I saw the commercial for the new Maybelline Falsies Flared mascara the other day.  I HATE that mascara commercials and ads allow their models to wear false lashes and act like they're their natural lashes and the mascara gave them that effect.  It drives me crazy.

So I saw this commercial (which I cannot find a video of) and the one model is holding a pack of false lashes in her hand and the commercial says "no false lashes required" as she crumples them.  Umm.... she's wearing SUPER dramatic false lashes.  Here's a video I could find (it's a behind the scenes look) where you can see the lashes they're wearing.
They're bananas, right?

Here's a picture of the print ad

The commercials are so misleading.
One time I changed my Facebook profile picture to this:
And my sister commented, "Your eyelashes remind me of those commercials for mascara."  To which I ranted back about how that's because I was wearing false lashes and so many of the mascara commercials have their models wearing false lashes.

Haha I just had to rant a little to my fellow makeup lovers.
What do you think?  Do you think it's fair that they're allowed to wear false lashes in mascara commercials?  Am I overreacting?  Just wondering!

Thank you for hearing me out haha!!
