I stole makeupbydanisaddiction's "Blurple" eyes!
The other day makeupbydanisaddiction did what she called a "Blurple Smokey Eye" (which you can check out by clicking HERE). I loved it on her so much that I knew I had to try it out myself. I knew I had most of the colors she used (because she loves Inglot as much as I do!). Unfortunately, I recognize them more by color than name because they are numbered, not named. So I kinda guessed when I was doing it, trying to remember what she had put where.
Unfortunately for me, it does not look anywhere close to as good as Dani's does. Hers was much more vibrant, more blue looking, and made her eyes like glow. I still do like it, I think the colors are really pretty together, but I think I'd leave this look for the brown eyed girls.
Man, I make some weird faces haha |
I used:
Inglot 376 (grey lid color)
388 (blue/purple color) above crease and under eyes
379 (lighter blue/purple color) above 388
395 as a highlight and on tearduct area
Lips:
Revlon "Soft Nude" lipstick
MAC "Myth" lipstick
NYX Megashine lipgloss "Pink Frost"
So I'm sorry Dani that this didn't come out as nicely as yours! I hope it doesn't let you down!

I be jammin man!
Haha, didn't you know I'm Jamaican? The other day Meme from Makeup and Meme posted some music that she was listening to hype her up. I listen to music when I shower and when I do my hair and makeup and I had thought about sharing with you some of my favorite music to listen to and Meme's post helped me to move that decision a little faster haha.
So here's some of the music I like to listen to while I get ready (some do have swear words in them, not a lot, but some)!
So here's some of the music I like to listen to while I get ready (some do have swear words in them, not a lot, but some)!
"Video" by India.Arie
I love this song because it's such a great, positive song about loving yourself the way you are.
"Hey Mama" by the Black Eyed Peas
I love the energy of this song. It makes me want to move haha.
"Massive Attack" by Nicki Minaj
I love the beat of this song. The video is a little bizarre with the contortionist guys, but I still like it!
"Mmmbop" by Hanson
Yup, you read it right. Haha I still like this song and I'm not ashamed to admit it! Well, maybe I am a little ashamed but I still like it haha.
"Womanizer Remix" Britney Spears ft. Busta Rhymes and TI
I don't know how this song survived without Busta on it. For real, even if you don't like what he's saying, you have to bob your head to the beat! And I just like TI.
"Like a Boy" Ciara
I like this song but the video makes it so much better. Chick can dance.
"Upgrade U" Beyonce ft. Jay Z
Haha again, I like this song more because of the video. When Beyonce dresses up as Jay and mouths the words... genius. Pure genius. And Beyonce is hot, a little dramatic, but it's ok.
"Hope" Twista ft. Faith Evans
I love this song. I could listen to it all day.
And last but not least, maybe there's something wrong with me but I love the songs where the woman singing is getting revenge on the man who cheated on her haha
"Before he Cheats" Carrie Underwood
"Him 'Em Up Style" Blu Cantrell
Haha I think that's enough. What are your favorite songs to listen to?? Do you like fast songs? Slow songs? Inspirational songs? Hardcore rock? Hymns? I have a great appreciation for all music but when I'm getting ready for my day I really like songs with a fast beat or a positive message unless I'm grumpy haha.
Challenge: Use one eyeshadow and a MAJORLY awesome beauty buy!
On Makeup Geek recently (before they decided to switch servers) someone posted a question that went something along the lines of, "If you had to choose one eyeshadow to use, what would it be?". Well I answered that question with Inglot 395, which is a highlight shade, and I would use it on my browbone and on the inner corners of my eyes. So today I decided to see if I would actually do that. To see if I would indeed wear just that one eyeshadow and leave the house like that.
And then I made my look even MORE simple by using one lip color! I only have on Revlon Colorburst Lipgloss in "Papaya." I am proud to announce that my entire look took me only 15 minutes to do, which I think is like a record. And as it turns out, my face makeup is the makeup that takes me the longest. I know I can whip out eye makeup no problemo but I always want to make sure that my face makeup looks good so it takes me forever.
So, do you think you'd feel comfortable wearing only one eyeshadow??? Which one would you pick? Would you pick a bright color? A contour color? Black?
On to the next portion of this post!
I got my June issure of Allure magazine yesterday. I love Allure. But I was annoyed by something they decided to pick as an "Editor Favorite"
Can you see what they picked??? Yup, that's MAC Candy Yum Yum lipstick. Now, could you please tell me why they would pick a limited edition lipstick that is super difficult to find (and you're sure not going to find for $14.50) to display as a favorite??? It is absolutely a beautiful color but wouldn't you, if you were a magazine editor, choose something that people can actually get their hands on?? At least put an alternative in there too!
And then one other thing that I found interesting was that in this issue they showed the winners of the Reader's Choice Awards. Earlier in the year they have you vote for your favorites in different categories (lipstick, lip gloss, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, etc.). Each category is split into two sections, one being "Drugstore, Discount Store" and the other being "Department Stores, Specialty Stores, Spas, Salons."
The results of this for the Deparment store section I think is very indicative of how much we're told that MAC is the best of the best. Because what categories did MAC win?? It won for Department store lipstick (Viva Glam V), lip gloss (Viva Glam V), Eyeshadow (Shroom), and Eyeliner (Technakohl Liner in Graphblack). That's half of the makeup categories. I just thought that was interesting.
Now on to some good stuff:
Every month Allure does giveaways where the first 500 (or some other amount of people) who sign up win stuff.
Look what they're giving away on June 7th!
I never remember to do this stuff but if you have a good memory, log on and try to win yourself something!
And now the best news of all!
I know you probably can't really read what that says but it's called "The Allure Beauty Box" and it goes on sale on May 24th at 12p.m. EST and it's only $39.99 (plus shipping and there are limited quantities). But when you look at what is in that box, it's an AMAZING deal!!! What comes in the box:
-Aveeno Positively Nourishing Energizing Body Wash
-Aveeno Smart Essentials Pore Purifying Facial Wash
-Benefit POREfessional Pro Balm Pore Minimizer (retails at $28)
-Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Polish in Debbie (retails for $18)
-Clean & Clear Advantage Popped Pimple Relief drying paste
-Clean & Clear Morning Burst Boost body wash
-Clean & Clear Morning Burst Surge power cleanser
-Colorscience Pro Pressed Eyeshadow Palette ($35 retail)
-Garnier Fructis Pure Clean Styling Gel
-John Frieda Frizz Ease 3 day straight semi-permanent styling spray
-John Frieda Full Repair Touch-Up Flyaway Tamer
-John Frieda Sheer Blonde Go Blonder Controlled Lightening Spray
-Joico K-PAK Color Therapy Restorative Styling Oil
-Joico K-PAK Moisture Intense Hydrator Treatment
-Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Night Moisturizer

-Oscar Blandi Pronto Invisible Volumizing Dry Shampoo Spray ($23 retail)
-RoC Brilliance Anti-Aging Face Primer
-RoC Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Night Cream
-Spornette Little Wonder Brush
-Suki Eye Lift Cellular Renewal Cream
I know I don't have retail prices for everything but I just looked at what was from Sephora (except for the Colorscience palette) and put what those products cost there. It looks like everything is full sized so that's even better. I was thinking that it would be samples of everything but when I look really closely in the pictures, I can see the amount of product in the containers and they are the full sized versions.
To get this deal it says "order now @ allurevirtualstore.com/summer " and it starts at noon (Eastern time) on Tuesday. It also says there's a shipping charge and "while supplies last." Another thing is that $5 from each purchase will be donated to the Skin Cancer Foundation. So you get an awesome deal and help the Skin Cancer Foundation! Can we really ask for more??? If y'all buy all of those up before I get a chance to get one, I'll be upset with you haha! But seriously, take 'em up on the offer!
But that's all for today. That list took way too long to type out haha. I hope you are having an amazing Sunday! Thanks guys!!

Lipstick Tag
I saw this Lipstick Tag on Foxy Aries Beauty Blog the other day and thought it'd be fun to do! I sure love lipstick!
See? I really do haha!
1. When you were a child, did you use your mother's lipsticks?
I don't think so. I don't really remember using her lipsticks but I definitely remember her painting my nails.
I don't think so. I don't really remember using her lipsticks but I definitely remember her painting my nails.
2. How old were you when you bought your first lipstick?
Umm... I don't remember haha. I do recall loving the color "Mocha Freeze" from Mary Kay when I was a junior in highschool but then I lost it so that stunk.
3. Pink or red lipstick?
Haha anyone who has been following my blog for a little bit (ahem Jess) knows the answer to this question! Absolutely hands down pink! I'm not a fan of the red!
4. The most expensive lipstick you have ever bought?
MAC. $14.50. That's a lot of money for me to spend on a lipstick but I LOVE the ones I have (I have 4). They are by far my favorite lipsticks in my collection.
5. And the cheapest?
I think NYX. They were less than $2 apiece.
6. What's the most bizarre thing you have ever done with a lipstick?
Just the other day I used it as blush but for the most part I just use it for when it's meant for. I don't even think I've ever written anything in lipstick. Haha what can I say? I follow the rules.
7. If you had to recommend a lipstick, which brand would you recommend and why?
There are 2. MAC because I love the way they feel on my lips and their pigmentation is great and the Covergirl Lip Perfection lipsticks (at least Fairytale) because of the pigmentation, price, and staying power.
So I tag anyone who wants to do this! I like learning stuff about people so I think everyone should do it!
And I'll add in a quick FOTD (which means face of the day for anyone who doesn't know what that means) from yesterday.
I did this and started taking pictures and then when I was looking at them I noticed they looked funny. Can you tell what I was missing?
Yeah, dum dum me forgot to put on MASCARA!!! How could I forget mascara???
No worries, I fixed it (but got some in my bangs haha)!
I used Inglot shadows (of course)
AMC 71 on my lid
379M in my crease
392 M above that
352 M to help blend
393 P for the highlight
I really wanted to play around with different tones of purple so that's why I did a warm purple blended into a cool purple back into a warm purple. I really liked this. It was sooo vibrant in person! And I packed that AMC shadow on and for a while the sparkles stayed but throughout the day they went away.
On my lips:
MAC "Myth"
NYX Megashine lipgloss "Beige"
I hope you all have a great weekend! And do the lipstick tag! Thanks, FoxyAries, for that!

Monochromatic Pink Look
I'm a little nervous as to what you guys are going to think about this. I started off doing a look inspired by these pink hydrangeas
I was thinking I'd do a nice soft monochromatic look (because I'd always wanted to do one but was too scared to use any color but pink and I VERY rarely wear pink on my eyes). But somewhere along the way my artsy side took over and it turned from a soft look into this
And then I played around in Picnik a little bit, playing with lighting and softening, and came up with this
I know it's a little bright but I actually really like it! It would have been better with some awesome lashes though. Of course, I felt crazy when my neighbors looked at me when I was taking my garbage out but hey, it's in the name of makeup!!! I think you can see a bit of the original inspiration in there... maybe? Haha. I really had fun doing this to myself, trying to figure out what to use to contour my cheeks with a pink and make them really bright like my eyes (MAC "Pink Friday" applied with a stippling brush was a brilliant idea, if I do say so myself).
Haha, I can already hear my sister, "I don't really like that one..." haha. She doesn't like the crazy stuff like I do! Do you guys ever just go with the flow and end up looking like a nut??? If you do, you should show me and let me know I'm not alone!!!

Green "Alligator" tutorial
When I posted "Two Colorful Looks" the other day, Liz asked me if I could do a tutorial on the green look, which I thought looked kind of like it was inspired by an alligator. This look is really quite easy. Usually I blend my shadows like crazy so you can't see the seams between them and that takes a while but I wanted the black to be kind of sharp in this look so that saves a lot of time! So here it is Liz!!
-I started off with my brows filled in and put Too Faced Shadow Insurance all over my lid up to my brow
- I put a little bit of NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in "Milk" all over my lid up to my crease because I'll be using a pigment and I want it to stick
- I applied Inglot Pigment 43 on lid up to my crease
- I applied Inglot 384M shadow above my crease up toward my brow (you can see that it's angled up toward the inner corner of my brow)
-I applied a bit of NYX "Black" eyeshadow along the outer corner of my lashline and in the outer "v"
-I blended the black out just a bit
-I added MAC "Vanilla" pigment under my brow and in the tearduct area
-I applied a bit more 384M with my Sonia Kashuk blending brush and blended it up into the "Vanilla" pigment
-I added Bobbi Brown gel liner in "Black Ink" to my lashline and winged it out a bit
-I also added the gel liner to my waterline
-Something I do sometimes to help blend a bit is to add a bit of black shadow on top of the gel liner in my waterline and I drag it down into my lower lashes
-I added some 384M to the outer lower lashline and blended it with the black
-I put just a little bit of the 43 pigment to the inner corner of my lower lashline
- I added L'oreal Extra Volume Collagen mascara
and we're done! Well, with one eye haha
I wanted to show you guys this just so you can see why I love makeup as much as I do. Which eye looks bigger????
It's one thing to see a before and after and a totally different thing to see them side by side. Haha I think it's funny at night when I remove makeup from one eye and then I look all crazy like this!
This is much better!
I hope this helps! Let me know if you give it a try and how it turns out!!!
