So I saw this commercial (which I cannot find a video of) and the one model is holding a pack of false lashes in her hand and the commercial says "no false lashes required" as she crumples them. Umm.... she's wearing SUPER dramatic false lashes. Here's a video I could find (it's a behind the scenes look) where you can see the lashes they're wearing.
They're bananas, right?
Here's a picture of the print ad
The commercials are so misleading.
One time I changed my Facebook profile picture to this:
And my sister commented, "Your eyelashes remind me of those commercials for mascara." To which I ranted back about how that's because I was wearing false lashes and so many of the mascara commercials have their models wearing false lashes.
Haha I just had to rant a little to my fellow makeup lovers.
What do you think? Do you think it's fair that they're allowed to wear false lashes in mascara commercials? Am I overreacting? Just wondering!
Thank you for hearing me out haha!!
i hate mascara ads too... i never watch them ever anymore because to be honest what they show isn't even the truth. the only way to find out is to try it yourself and thanks to the internet people now review products :p
ReplyDeleteI also don't understand why they can't just do the ads without the false eyelashes :p
Ugh, i am sooo glad i'm not the only one annoyed by this. Seriously, they're making claims that are just impossible with out false lashes. I own a tube of falsies, and too be frank, i love my regular Great Lash wayyyy more.
ReplyDeleteIt is very annoying! They are trying to sell you a product but are totally misleading the consumer. Fortunately most of us don't fall for all the BS.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I saw this commercial this am, and was like "whatever". BUT I must admit, I have the flared mascara and it is very awesome, but no, it didn't look like I was wearing falsies. I will have to do a review on this product soon. Oh, and look, it's playing right now on TV, lol.
ReplyDeleteOMG I totally agree!! I absolutly hate it that the models wear falsies in mascara commercials. How dumb do they think we are?! haha So frusterating!! XD
ReplyDeleteThis is so weird - I had just seen the commercial before reading this post and was thinking the same thing! I kept looking for a disclaimer somewhere to state that these models were wearing false lashes, but no such thing. That's just WRONG!
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way. I also hate how when they advertise for an eye palette or product (those Covergirl smokey eye sticks come to mind) it's obvious that they didn't use just those shades in the little trio or quad. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteI agree! I get tons of mags and they all have them, and I've looked for the fine print too- which isn't there. I totally ignore them anymore- I got this but because I saw it in the store. and its ridiculous to think furlashes up there are from any mascara lol.
ReplyDeleteThis really gets to me too. Of course I know that its false lashes they've got not super amazing lashes due to a mascara but when they're advertising 'False lash effect' mascara and say no falsies needed its so frustrating because they've just used falsies on the models.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. You know what gives you a false lash look? ACTUAL FALSE LASHES!
ReplyDeleteThose ads are such BS! Its obvious they all have on falsies but what upsets me off the most is...NONE of the models or even "Stars" who do these type of ads have any integrity! What happened to advertising a product you actually believe in?! They're willing to mislead us into buying just so they can get a pay check. Its so sad!
ReplyDeleteTotally misleading! There is no way your lashes will ever look like that without false lashes. Totally agree!!
ReplyDeleteAt least I'm not alone! I know most people (especially makeup people) probably realize that they are wearing false lashes but I know that some don't (like my sister). I don't think it's right. And Meme, you're right, the celebrities and models endorsing the mascara should have more integrity and not falsely advertise. I agree.
ReplyDeletefound the commercial :P

I guess if the actual mascara is used on top of the false eye-lash in the commercial--that's how they can get over having the models wear false eyelashes. But we're not that gullible-on second thought maybe we are because I purchased that same brand of mascara!
ReplyDeletereally cute, and the whole photo-shoot is awesome! Great blog dear, congrats! Would you like to visit mine, and why not follow each-other? Let me know: Television Makeup Artist Sydney
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you pointed this out, because I feel the exact same way. I alaways think your out right lying to people. I have noticed that Covergirl in their ads and commericals actually posts inserts used on the models.
ReplyDeletemost of the mascara ads is liar ....their model wore the false lashes .... sound like false with lies ads
ReplyDeleteI have noticed that in the Cover Girl mascara commericals, they have a little, what's the word... clause I guess, at the bottom saying, "Model is wearing lash inserts", LOL Inserts...at least they're up front with the whole false lashes.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and daughter (16) were watching tv the other night and a Maybelline mascara ad came on. I had to laugh when I heard my hubby make a comment about the lashes not being real! I was also glad that he pointed it out in front of my daughter.
ReplyDeleteThats real they probably keep fixing it and curling it to look fabulous. besides they wouldn't show fase information on tv because thats illegal.
