Natural-ish brown smokey eyes and Revlon Just Bitten lipstain

Ok, well for me, this is a natural look.  I think a good chunk of the reason for that would be the fact that I'm not wearing black eyeliner.  I really wasn't feeling the whole eyeliner thing the day I did this... or the next day... or the  next haha.  I didn't wear eyeliner for a few days this past week.  Oh well.

I was at CVS and was trying to get my extra bucks from Revlon so I had to get something relatively inexpensive.  There were very few things that were less than $10 that were something I'd wanted to try.  Then I saw the Just Bitten lipstains and the only color that looks like one I'd actually wear was the bright pink one which is the color "Passion."  So here's the look I did wearing that on my lips.

As you can see, my eyes are really neutral for me.  I have on the brown Urban Decay liner ("Bourbon") from the "Get Baked " palette, which I layered "Twice Baked" on top of.  And then I think I just blended that out with a random light brown from my 88 palette.  My highlight is MAC "Vanilla" pigment.

As for the lipstain, I really like it.  I'd seen reviews of people saying how easy the marker-like tip made application... I kind of disagree.  I personally like a bit more forgiving applicator, something that moves a little.  The tip is really stiff, which is great if you want it to be super precise but I feel like lipstains are supposed to be a natural flush looking color (maybe not a natural color exactly but applied in such a way that literally it looks like you bit your lip and that's what color it turned, ya know?).  I almost feel like I should dab it on with my finger but that's not a possibility so I just used the side of the marker instead of the tip.

Now, you definitely want your lips to be exfoliated.  When I first bought it, I got so excited that I just put it on without doing anything to my lips first.  Bad move.  It grabbed on to all of the dry skin on my lips and made it stand out like crazy.  So I tried again, this time I exfoliated, applied the balm attached to the lipstain, applied the lipstain, and applied the balm again.  Perfection.  It lasted a long time too, though I did have to reapply the lip blam (which is a really great balm) because my lips started to feel dry.

I think this would be a great product for a bride.  I don't know about anybody else, but on my wedding day, I was too busy to reapply anything on to lips.  So I definitely think this would be great for someone who wants a very low-maintenance lip color.  The colors are pretty much all dark so if you like your lips lighter than their natural color, you'll probably have to pass on this.  Personally, I think the one I bought is the only color I'd actually use because I like light lips.  But I'd definitely recommend grabbing a color if one stands out to you!  I think mine cost about $5.

I apologize for the non-exciting look but that's all I have for today!  Thanks again for checking this out!!

Weekend makeup!

Every weekend I pretty much always forget to take pictures of my makeup because the hubby is off of work and we're almost always doing something.  I did remember to take a few on Friday so here's that look

This picture's kinda creepy now that I'm looking at it haha.
And you can see why almost every picture of a single open eye is usually my left (on the right here) eye.
My right eye is slightly more hooded so my left eye is more photogenic haha.

The purple color is Inglot 392 M
And then I believe I just used black in the crease.  It was a really easy look.  I had forgotten to take pictures early in the day so I have nothing on my lips in these pictures haha.

On Saturday we went down to Charlotte for a reptile show (my husband's lizards needed food) and then we went to a big outlet mall there to do some back to school shopping for my daughter.  I was bored in the car so I started taking pictures haha (I do that A LOT when I have my camera and I'm bored).  My Briana:
My hubby (because I'm super jealous of the cheekbones, his whole family has them, it's not really fair)
 Oooh, a rearview mirror picture!
Haha this was of my daughter and I but her eyes were closed so here's the only picture I have of myself from Saturday and you really cannot see my makeup very well.  It's such a pretty picture haha (it makes me laugh at least).
And we found this really cool decorative license plate that my daughter said, "looks like my friend Sullivan"
What do you think?  I think it's pretty darn close.  Haha I've had more than one person say, "I have a t-shirt with a picture of him on it."  So I thought it was neat to find this.

And then I didn't wear any makeup yesterday or today so that's awesome.  I spent the day painting my walls. We have a flat finish paint and I don't know if anyone else has a child who needs to touch every corner they go around.  Or who needs to hold on to both sides of the stairwell wall when they come down the stairs but I had child fingerprints all over my walls and my parents are coming down for a visit soon (I'm SUPER excited!!!) so I wanted to get rid of the fingerprints and make it look clean again.

I hope you guys all have an incredible week!  Thanks for taking time out of your life to read this!

A green look. But not a "whoa, green!" look haha

Haha weird title, I know.  I wasn't really sure what to call this.  I like wearing color on my eyes.  But I wanted to do something that wasn't such a BAM look, but still colorful... does that make any sense haha?  So here's what I did today

Oh man, I look so snotty here.  Gosh haha.

My kiddo has been so excited about her swimming lessons and I think she looks so darn cute in her little bathing suit with her hair in a little messy bun that I had to get a couple pictures of us together.  So here we are.

Isn't she cute??  I can't believe she starts school in a couple of weeks.  I'm gonna be a mess.

I don't know why but my favorite greens are yellow greens as opposed to blue greens.  I love green and gold together so I used Inglot 384 M all over my lid and up above the crease and then I threw some 403 P on the middle third to make it a more yellow green.

I used MAC "Vanilla" pigment as my highlight and Inglot 363 M with a little bit of NYX "Black" to add depth to the crease.
My liner is Bobbi Brown gel liner in "Black Ink" and I'm back to the L'oreal Extreme Volume Collagen mascara because after using that, then buying the Voluminous Carbon Black, I missed this one so I bought it again.  I think it's a keeper.

And on my lips I'm wearing mixture of MAC "Myth" and "Viva Glam Gaga."

Did you hear that Nicki Minaj (love) is going to be the face of the next Viva Glam campaign, I believe with Ricky Martin.  I can't wait to see what she comes out with.  I really like her.  I'm not sure why I like her so much haha.  But I watched a thing about her recently and she was saying how her audience is getting younger and younger so it wouldn't hurt for her to not swear as much in her songs.  Some of her songs are fine but others I can't listen to if my daughter's around.  But she said that it doesn't make her a worse rapper if her songs contain fewer swear words and I really appreciate that.  Especially since Briana really likes her too.

Haha ok, enough of my little tangent there haha.  That's it for today.  I hope you're having an incredible day!  Thanks so much for taking a look at this!

Simple, yet effective look

Sometimes I get in the mood to rock black liner.  Not black shadow, not smokey eyes, just black liner with simple eyeshadow.  That's the kind of mood I was in today.  My daughter started swimming lessons today and I didn't want to get all decked out with colors and stuff since I'm a younger mom and already get funny looks.  So I grabbed my NYX black liquid liner and here's what I came up with:

My camera did this, this is not how I edited it.  But I thought it looked cool haha

The main color I have on my lids is a loose pigment by a brand called "Tony & Tina" that I bought at Sephora a good 9 years ago haha.  I know you're not supposed to keep makeup that long but I really love this color and it's a loose shadow so I figure it's ok.  I don't use it often enough but I just love it.  Now, since the time I bought this, Tony & Tina have gone out of business so I'm sorry to say that I don't think you'd be able to find this color anymore.  So I'm sorry!  But here's what it looks like just in case anyone cares haha (it's called "Energy Trail")

So pretty, it's like a neutral pink/bronze color.  I love it.

So I have this, a bronze from my 88 palette, and "Peanut" from the Kat Von D "Tattoo Chronicles" on my lids.  The liner is NYX studio liquid liner in "extreme black" and I used a little bit of Prestige Total Intensity Liner in "Deepest Black" on my lower lashline.  And L'oreal Voluminous Carbon Black (it's totally dried out) mascara.

On the cheeks:
ELF blush/bronzer duo
NYX blush "Angel"

Lips:
MAC "Creme Cup" lipstick
NYX "Pink Frost" Megashine lipgloss

I like this look.  It's simple but I think it still makes me look like I know something about makeup.

And then I just wanted to say how blessed I feel to have all of you amazing followers.  I have gotten to know some of you pretty well and I consider you friends and I just feel so lucky to have you guys in my life.  It means a lot to me to know that you have my back, even though we may have never met in person.  Thank you guys!  I appreciate every single one of you!

Hey, remember me??

I'm so sorry I've been such a lame-o and not posted at all this week!  Bad Sonja.  I really haven't worn too much makeup partially because it's been so stinkin hot here and I've been working outside (weeding my gardens and tedious stuff like that) quite a bit and partially because I haven't really been inspired.  I have done a few looks, none of them are anything amazing or have been anything that I really love.  But here are the looks:

I did a bronze look because I wanted to try out a lipgloss that I bought (Revlon Super Lustrous lipgloss in the color Pink Pop, it's so pretty) and I was wearing a really bright shirt.  So I think this is just the bronze color from the Kat Von D tattoo chronicles palette with Urban Decay's "Twice Baked" in the outer v.

I wanted to do something with yellow.  And then I decided I wanted to use pink too.  And this is what came out of that.  I'm not a huge fan but it was ok for something a little different.  I used primarily Ben Nye pigments for this.

I like teal/turquoise with black so this was me playing around with those colors together.  Haha this look (in real life) totally reminded me of something Olivia from Jerseylicious would have done(yes, it's a guilty pleasure haha).  The blue color is NYX Ultra Pearl Mania in "Turquoise."

And then lastly this look was me wanting to use a warmer color, so I picked Inglot's 450p eyeshadow (very similar to NYX's "Rust", just slightly more purple) and I was trying to choose what color to use in the crease and I chose MUFE 92 (I know, I know... again?) but I really like the way those colors work together.  This is my favorite look of the bunch.

That's my makeup excitement for the past week.  I'm sorry again that I've been so boring!  I attempted (especially in the last 2 looks) to use different techniques on my eyebrows to see how I like them to look.  Usually I just use a powder shadow from Inglot to do them but I used some of Meme's tips (she has an awesome tutorial HERE if you want to check it out) and did them a little differently.  I don't have a brow pencil so I used the coolest toned brown eyeliner I own for them haha.  I think I'll have to practice some more to get them right.

I hope to be posting more but my inspiration comes and goes so I can't promise anything haha.  Thank you all so much!  And I'd like to say hi to my new followers as well!  Thank you so much everyone!  Your support means soooo much to me!!!

Teal(ish) and purple!

Hey guess what!  I used the MUFE 92 again!  Haha I keep thinking, 'what colors will look good with this?' and today I wanted to use my Inglot 372 M (definitely a favorite of mine) with it.  So here's what 372 looks like
Isn't it sooo pretty??  I love it!

And here's the look I did today!

On my eyes:
TFSI
NYX "Milk" JEP
Inglot 372 M
NYX Ultra Pearl Mania "Turquoise"
(over 372 because I wanted it to be shimmery)
NYX "Black" eyeshadow
MUFE 92
Inglot 352 M (skintone for blending)
Inglot 395 P (highlight)
Bobbi Brown "Black Ink" gel liner
L'oreal Voluminous Carbon Black mascara

Cheeks:
ELF blush/bronzer duo
NYC "Sunny" Bronzer
Inglot 395 P for highlight

Lips:
MAC "Myth" lipstick
MAC "Viva Glam Gaga" (the first) lipstick
NYX "Nude Pink" lipgloss

Have I mentioned that I really think MUFE 92 is a beautiful color?  Because I do.  I like the way this turned out.  It reminds me of a look I did like a year ago with the 88 palette (inspired by my Pandora bracelet)
but I like the one I did today more.  I think partially because of how vibrant the colors are.

So that is my look for the day today.  I hope you guys like it!  Thank you all so much!
