NYX Lipstick Swatches

I have a small collection of NYX lipsticks and I figured I would share them with you!

So here I am in very simple makeup and nothing on my lips
"Harmonica"
This color totally reminds me of the color I would think of if someone were to say "porn star pink" haha, it's really pale and frosty and that's just what it reminds me of
"Baby Pink"
very similar to Harmonica but more purple
"Summer Love"
A pretty nude color
"Circe"
A lot of people really like this as a nude lip.  I am not one of those people.  I very rarely reach for this because I just don't like it on me
"Rea"
This color makes me look unbelievably sick.  It is waaay too gray for me.
"Narcissus"
I totally forgot about this lipstick when I showed you my bright pinks last week.  This is more of a true pink than my MAC "Pink Friday" lipstick, which pulls more purple
"Vitamin"
Haha obviously this one melted.  I like the color but I HATE these lipsticks that have the shimmer to them, they really show every line in your lips.  And in the full face shot, you can see how the color appears uneven on my lips even though it's not.
"Fig"
This color is BEAUTIFUL!!  This is probably my favorite out of all of them
"Indian Pink"
Again, a pretty color but it's shimmery so I never wear it
"Thalia"
A beautiful little bit darker than natural lip color
"Peach"
This is the worst lipstick.  Ever.  It's bad 90's to the extreme.  And again with the shimmer.
"Electra"
A beautiful, bright red.  This is my favorite red on me.  I apologize that it's messy, I didn't feel like making it perfect.
"Snow White"
A deep red, it's almost vampy on me.  Pretty but not my favorite.
So all in all, I really love these.  They don't feel as substantial on my lips as my MAC lipsticks do, they're also a bit more slippery feeling.  The pigmentation is great, as you can see and they're so cheap on cherryculture.com (especially when they have their 20% off sales).  Just DO NOT buy the ones that are shimmery because they aren't good.  I, however, (with the exception of Rea) love the ones that don't have shimmer in them.  And for less than $2 apiece, why not?

Versatile Blogger Award!

Makeup and Meme left me a comment saying that she gave me an award:
So I'd like to thank her!  Here's a link to her blog so you can check her out if you haven't already (she's VERY talented so you totally should): http://makeupandmeme.blogspot.com/ .

Here are the rules:
1. Thank the person who gave you the award and link back to them in your post.
2. Tell us 7 things about yourself
3. Award 15 recently discovered new bloggers
4.Contact these bloggers and let them know they've received the award.

Now, 7 things about myself:
1. I went to a very small private Christian school and graduated from a class of 12 people.
2. I met my husband when I was working at Dunkin Donuts when I was 17.
3. I used to laugh at my mom for crying during movies (I specifically remember laughing at her during "My Girl") but once I had my daughter, I turned into mush and now I cry during movies.
4. I met my best friend 19 years ago in first grade.  We've had times when we drifted apart but we always come back together, we're still best friends.
5. I LOVE English Bulldogs and have wanted one for years and years but somehow ended up with a crazy pitbull haha (but I love him anyways!).
6. People think I'm prissy because I like to have my makeup and hair done but you're more likely to find me down in the dirt than my husband (he hates getting dirty haha).
7. I whole-heartedly believe that you can change the world with random acts of kindness.

The rules don't specify whether or not I can give this award to some of the same people who were awarded the same time I was so I'm just going to give the award to the people I would have whether or not they've already gotten it from someone else (and there aren't 15 because I'm not cool enough haha)!
http://makeupandmeme.blogspot.com/  (yes I picked her even though she picked me)

Thank you again Makeup and Meme!

Quick BRIGHT blue eyes!

Hey guys!  I just have a really quick look for you today.  I do this look when I want a fun look without a lot of work.  It's so easy to do and every time I wear this look, my hubby tells me how pretty my eyes look (an even better reason to do it!).  I apologize for the lack of good pictures but my awesome new hat (ahem. Target clearance rack. $6) made it difficult haha.

On my eyes, I'm wearing:
~TFSI
~Ben Nye pigment "Cosmic Blue"
~NYX eyeshadow "Black" (outer v)
~MAC "Blanc Type" (for blending)
~Kat Von D "Peanut" (highlight)
~Bobbi Brown gel liner "Black Ink"
~L'oreal Extreme Volume Collagen Mascara "Blackest Black"

And on my lips:
~MAC "Myth"
~MAC "Viva Glam Gaga"
~NYX Megashine Lipgloss "Pink Frost"
haha have I mentioned I have the hardest time wearing only one lip product at a time?

I took this picture quite a bit later in the day and all of my lip stuff had come off but you can see both of my eyes pretty well.  I brought the blue up high enough that it would kinda peek around my eyes when they were open.

And that is my quick, big impact look.  I hope you all enjoyed your weekend!!  We went to this crazy backwoods flea market and I felt like I was in the movie "Wrong Turn" haha.  My father-in-law went with us and he was looking around and said, "if I hear a banjo, I'm outta here" haha (a little nod to "Deliverance" there)!!  I apologize for rambling haha I'm kinda good at it!  I hope you have a great week this week!  Bye now!

Makeup Myth Debunked: Yes, small eyed girls can wear black eyeliner all around their eyes!

So, if you have small eyes like I do, I'm sure you've heard a million times "don't put eyeliner all around your eyes, it'll make them look smaller..." blah blah blah.  Well I'm here to show you that you can wear eyeliner all around your eyes while still making them look bigger because it is my belief that it is not the liner that makes the difference, it's the placement of your eyeshadows.  I am living proof of this.

I have very small eyes as you can see here, in a picture of me with no eye makeup on at all:
Now, when I line my eyes all the way around with black liner, you can see that it does indeed close my eyes off even more
Now, all I'm going to do is place a medium toned brown eyeshadow above my crease (almost from the outer corner of my eye to the inner corner of my eyebrow) and wing my liner slightly... see what it does
Now I added liner under my eye and added a highlight color, some colors on my lid, and blended them all together
And for the final look, I took some dark brown shadow and blended it farther down under my bottom lashes (this is kinda like when you line outside of your lipline to make your lips look bigger.  The farther down you bring the shadow on the bottom (without going overboard), the bigger your eyes will look).  And then I finished my face makeup and added lipcolor (Revlon Colorburst lipgloss "Papaya").  And voila, bigger eyes!
Now, so you don't have to remember and can see side by side, this is what I look like with no eye makeup and what I look like with all of my eye makeup applied:
Thank God for makeup haha.

Now back to my original point, my eyes are totally lined with black liner, which is supposed to (and does) make them look smaller, but if you add shadows and use them to your advantage, even with your eyes lined all the way around, your eyes can still look bigger!
