What??? A neutral look?

I decided to rock a bright pink shirt today and whenever I do that, I feel like I need to do something a little more neutral with my makeup so here's what I did today!

I used the Inglot pigment 68, a brown from the ELF "Bright eyes" edition, Inglot 414 (pearl dark green), MAC "Melon" pigment and Inglot 395 (highlight).  I actually really like it.  I think I may be sick or something because I *gasp* want to wear neutral colors more!  I know, right?  Haha.  So that's my super exciting look for today.  I hope you all have a great weekend!

Four years ago I married my best friend!

I am lucky enough to say that yesterday was my four year wedding anniversary.  I married a great man and we really have something so special together.  So in honor of that, I'm going to show you just a couple pictures of us from our wedding.

haha like his hat?  I gave it to him to wear to the reception.  He never went anywhere without a hat so I figured since I was marrying him for who he was, he should wear a hat at our reception.
And here we are today

I could not decide what kind of makeup to do for my anniversary!  Do I do something simple?  Do I do something sexy?  Do I do something like what I did on our wedding day (which who knows what that was haha).  So I grabbed the list of suggestions from my beautiful followers (yes, I have them all written down on a list in my bathroom) and looked it over.  I didn't want to do anything too crazy and then I saw Lindsey0901's suggestion of flowers.  I think flowers are a great inspiration, there's so many beautiful color combos in flowers and so, what better to do on my anniversary than a flower I had in my bouquet.  What flower is this you ask?  Why, it's a blue hydrangea.  I love them.  They make me happy.

Aren't they gorgeous?  I just think they 're so pretty!  I had blue hydrangeas but they come in purple, white, green, and pink.  And even within the blues, there are a ton of color variations.  Some are more purple, some are more green, some have a lot of white, some have none.  So here is what I came up with based these beautiful flowers.

I know I could have taken this more extreme but I wanted it to be a little softer.  When I saw my hubby, I told him to guess what my makeup was based on and I gave him the hint "it has something to do with our wedding" and he got it right away.
The colors I used are:
Inglot 388 (matte blue/purple), 351 (matte light off white color) and 395 (highlight and on top of 351).  I also used a baby blue and navy color from my 88 palette.

So that was my anniversary look!   My father-in-law just bought a house so while he and my hubby are moving boxes, I'm going to go clean his carpets.  So this shall be a fun filled day haha.  I hope you guys have a great day and I thank you so much for your support!

I done been a bad blogger

Haha, sorry.  That's a phrase I've heard here in North Carolina that I'd never heard before and it makes me giggle.  But I'm sorry that I haven't posted in a few days.  I've been really busy doing stuff around my house.  A friend of mine is coming down from NY this weekend so I've been touching up wall paint (which gets really messed up when you have a dog who crashes into walls haha) and trim paint and I painted my bedroom (and ceiling.  I swear painting ceilings is a form of torture).  So I've been busy and *gasp* haven't worn any makeup!!!  I figure there's not a whole heck of a lot of point when I'm just going to sweat and get paint splatters everywhere.

Last night, when I finally finished painting my bedroom, I NEEDED to do something with my makeup.  So what happens when a makeup addict doesn't wear any makeup for a few days and then gets her hands on stuff???  This happens haha:
Do you think I went a little overboard??

Haha I was just going to do something quick and simple and this happened.  Oh well haha.  It was quick but not so much a simple, wearable look that I initially was going for.

So anyhow, here's a more normal look for me.  I used Inglot shadows AMC 71 and 72.  And I just have to say that the AMC colors aren't my favorites.  I don't know what it is, but they're just not as nice to work with as the matte colors.  I wish I liked them more but I primarily stick with the matte and pearl shadows that I got from Inglot.  Love the colors, not so much the way they apply.  Anyways, here's what I did today (haha I wasn't feeling very photogenic today haha)

And here's my finished bedroom (I tried to get a picture where you could kinda see the bathroom too so you could see the colors together)
Now it just needs some wall decor haha.

So I do apologize for my lack of posts but I'll try to be a little better.  I'm so excited because my friend who's coming down will let me do whatever I want with her makeup so I get to practice on somebody who isn't me!!  Hooray!  Well I hope you guys have a great night!

Caribbean Inspired Look

I went on MUG the other day and there was a girl on there who said that she was asked to do the makeup for a photoshoot and they were doing a Caribbean theme.  Her look was really pretty and it got me thinking about what I would do if I had the same opportunity.  When I think of a Caribbean theme, I think of bright, vibrant colors, especially blues, greens, corals, and pinks.  So here's what I came up with for my idea of a Caribbean look:
It looked brighter in person.  Haha my husband's eyes got all big when he saw me and then he called me "rainbow girl" haha.
What I used:
~Inglot eyeshadows in:
361 (matte coral color in the corner of my eyes)
403 (pearl yellow gold on lid and highlight)
372 (matte robin's egg blue)
352 (matte skin color for blending)
371 (matte bright blue under eyes)
~NYX ultra pearl manias in:
Orange Zest (on top of coral color)
Ocean Blue (I put this over 371 and then put some more 371 on top of it because it dulled it down too much for my liking!)

On my lips:
MAC "Pink Friday" lipstick
NYX lipstick "Narcissus"
NYX megashine lipgloss "Beige"

I tried to make it look fun and vibrant and alive, all the things I think of when I think of the Caribbean.  I think if I were to do it again, I'd do almost a smokey eye technique with 371 near my lashline, blending it up into 372, blending that up in to 403 and then put bright pink or coral under my eyes.  What would you come up with if you were given the opportunity to do makeup for a Caribbean themed photo shoot?  I think you should give it a shot.  And then of course let me see it!

How I curl my hair haha

Have you ever tried to take pictures of yourself while curling your hair?  It's not so easy haha.  But I did it today to try to show you how I do my hair.  Honestly, there is no rhyme or reason to the way I do my hair, I just grab chunks and curl haha.

So here I am with straight hair:

The curling iron I use is a 1 1/4" "Hai Elite Digital Curling Iron."  Here's a link to it on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/HAIelite-Digital-Curling-Iron-1-25/dp/B003V4YN28/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&s=beauty&qid=1303503440&sr=1-6).  Honestly, I didn't even know it cost that much.  I have a friend who works at the Goldwell store and she bought it for me using her discount and I paid her back for it.  The thing with this curling iron is that it gets hot all the way to the tip of the iron so if you have to hold on to the end of the curling iron to curl your hair, I don't recommend it for you.  I heat it to 200 degrees (just because I really don't know how high I'm supposed to haha).
Then I use L'oreal Elnett Satin hairspray and mist it all over my hair
Then I grab a chunk of hair (I start in the front, do one whole side, then do the other side, then touch up anything in the back).  I pinch a piece of hair and then twist it away from my face, holding the curling iron vertically.  Here are a few pictures I managed to get without starting my hair on fire haha
the back is a little harder so I usually hold the curling iron sideways for that
And for the underneath pieces, I part my hair and pull it all over each shoulder and grab a chunk from underneath and curl it the same way I curl the rest of my hair
Once I have all of my hair curled, I rake my fingers through it and kind of twist some pieces together to make it loose and kind of messy.
And here I am, hair all curled

And here's my makeup for today:
I used Inglot shadows (of course):
351 (matte light color)
372 (matte robin's egg blue)
363 (matte medium brown)
395 (pearl highlight)

So I hope my attempt to explain how I do my hair made sense.  If not, feel free to ask any questions and I'll try to answer them!  Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to check this out!!

Well... I tried. I'm no Taylor Swift, that's for sure!

Haha I know it sounds like you're going to see me singing or something but don't be afraid, there's no singing here!  I attempted to do a red lip look like she does because my friend from MUG, Jess (Weighing Down on Beauty) said she'd like to see me try a Taylor Swift inspired look.  Well Jess, I'm sorry to let you down.  Actually, I did try so I guess I didn't totally fail.  I just do not like this on me at all!
So here was my inspiration:
And here's what I did (feel free to not look haha), it's kind of a mixture of all 3 (but mainly the last one)
hey look, I used some false lashes
My crazy kiddo and I colored eggs for Easter
I'm not diggin it, sorry Jess!  I want to like it, I really do but I just don't.  Red lips on me just don't go.  I will wear bright pink like nobody's business but red.... ummmm... no.  I feel like you need to be more naturally beautiful to pull this look off, I'm not trying to be mean to myself but I don't think I'm pretty enough to pull it off haha I feel like I need more!   More eyebrow color, more contouring, more bronzer, more eye shadow!!!  More more more!  Haha... I think I may have a problem.

I used Revlon Colorstay lipliner in Red and NYX lipstick in Electra for my lips.  And then I used Inglot matte shadows in 351, 352, and 363.  The liner is the usual Bobbi Brown gel liner in "Black Ink".  The lashes are Ardell natural lashes "Sweeties".  Oh!  I almost forgot!  I also used a MAC eyeshadow (Filament) that I bought when I was like 16.  I look at the color now and wonder why I bought it, it's kind of a light taupe color with major glitter in it that gets all over the place.  I thought it was actually something Taylor Swift would wear though so I put some of that on my lid.

I don't like this but it made me feel a lot better about it when my daughter told me that I look beautiful and when she saw the picture of Taylor Swift (and I didn't ask) she told me that my makeup looks like hers.  So I hope you all have a great Easter weekend!  And congratulations if you've made it through this haha!

Yesterday I had springy eyes, today not so much!

I was going to wait until tomorrow to post this because I don't know how much I'll feel like doing my makeup tomorrow but I am very impatient and when I have something to post, I want to post it now!  After I swatched that Inglot pigment 68 I really wanted to use it.  Here's what I did with it today:
What I used:
Inglot pigment 68
Inglot pearl shadow 450 (a rust color)
Inglot pearl shadow 395 (for highlight)
Urban Decay shadow "Twice Baked" (dark brown for outer v)

On my lips:
Revlon "Soft Nude"
I swear there's something about this olivey color that screams to me "wear soft nude with me!!" haha.

This is definitely not a springtime look, it's definitely more for fall but who really cares (haha sorry if you do!)?  I really like how warmer colors like these make my eyes look but I'm not a huge fan of them in general on me (hence the massive amount of cool toned looks).

I went to Sally's today and picked up a couple pairs of lashes and a tube of lash glue (which I've been needing for forever) so maybe you'll be seeing some lashes on me soon.  I hope you guys have an awesome day!
